Diamonique and socks
I finally got around to taking a picture of Diamonique. I'm still too fat to wear it, but it won't be too much longer. The only problem I have noticed is that the armholes are a little loose. They kind of wing out at the top. I think the problem is a lack of elasticity in the yarn. I'm not sure what to do about it. The yarn is 100 % cotton, and the yarn label says hand wash only, no dryer. But I am tempted to throw it in the wash and see if it will shrink a little bit and even out the armholes. The only other option that I can think of would be to use the sewing machine to widen the seams at the outer edge of the shoulder. I can't take anything out or reseam because there is no yarn left, and I used all that the store had. Hmmmm..... decisions, decisions.
For some reason no matter how many times I rotate the picture and upload it, it comes out sideways, so just cock your head sideways and pretend its right side up.
I have had a sudden sock craving, so I whipped out these baby socks with the yarn I had left over from the leaf socks in the previous IK. These are the same pattern as the last ones, minus the cable pattern. They turned out slightly larger, I think that the cables had a ribbing effect that made the blue ones tighter, so it might be a few weeks before they fit well, but I just had to have him model them. The picture from yesterday was a week old; he has gained a pound in one week! The chicken legs are slowly getting fatter. All I know is that every pound he gains is a pound off of me!
As part of my weird sock craving, I also started the Simply Lovely Lace Socks from..um.. Interweave Knits, of course! The picot edge is interesting. You knit 5 rows, k2tog, yo, for a row and then knit 5 more rows. When you finish, you fold the edge over and the k2tog row becomes the picot edge. Here is what I have so far.
This is what it looks like when you fold the top edge over.
