Stash Enhancement

I wasn't going to buy any new yarn till I finished all of my current projects, but I found the yarn for the Interweave Knits Corset Pullover on WEBS on clearance. The yarn was discontinued, so I HAD to buy it, right? It would have been gone forever if I didn't get it now! The only slight problem was the color. I ordered what I thought was brown, but this is what I got.
Luckily, I like orange. But what if I didn't? Anyway, it is yummy.

I am SO close to finishing Diamonique! Just a few more rows on the left front, and then the neckline. I am a little worried about having enough yarn, but am trying not to think about it. As soon as this is finished, I am going to start the Argyle Vest..... or maybe the Corset Pullover... or maybe that pretty pullover that was in IK..... or I could start on some pretty pink socks I have been wanting to make. So many choices! I love it!

Failed Attempt

I was looking around online and found directions for unraveling a sweater for yarn. So I got all excited and went to the thrift store and found a sweater to unravel. It looked like a beautiful cabled yarn, but turned out to be 5 strands of very thin yarn held together, and I made a big mess of the whole thing and gave up 3/4 of the way through.

On a happier note, my knitpicks yarn for the Deep V Argyle vest has arrived, and it so yummy!
I was suprised at how soft it is, and the temptation to cast on is driving me crazy!
(The darker color is actually a chocolate brown)
So far, I have resisted, and have actually completed the back of Diamonique and started the front this morning. MAYBE, by the time I finish, I will be skinny enough to model it. Don't hold your breath. There is a cheesecake in the fridge that is calling my name, and it's the kind that has the five different flavors. Mmmmm..... If I just take one bite of each flavor, does it count?

Pitiful

It's really pitiful that a grown woman can get so excited about a magazine, but it's true. The new Interweave Knits is out, and I am jumping for joy! For some reason, none of the other knitting magazines interest me. But the wealth of techniques and interesting designs in IK always gets my creative juices flowing. And the lack of fun fur yarns is such a relief. Good grief! If I see one more sweater covered in fun fur or one more variation on the poncho I am going to scream. Who wears such a thing? The only problem with getting a new issue of IK is that my whole list of projects to do in the future gets totally screwed up. I have to reevaluate which patterns are calling my name the loudest.
Right now my goal is to finish the Diamonique sweater. I am almost finished with the back. Did you know that it's possible to nurse and knit at the same time? Oh, yes, it can be done.

Look who decided to make an appearance

My water broke last night at 9:45, and Dean was born 1 hr and 50 min later. Slightly longer than pizza delivery! This was my quickest labor yet! He weighed 8lb and 1/2 oz. This labor was also much less painful that the other ones. There was another woman in labor at the birth center also. She was screaming and cursing, and my midwife suggested putting on some music to drown out the sound. But I told her no, it was kind of encouraging to hear the other woman because when I had really painful contractions I could hear her scream and think, well, at least I dont feel like THAT. It was also a race to see who was going to get the birthing tub, but I won. He was born under water, my 3rd water birth. I almost didn't make it into the tub, he came so fast. The other kidlets are at my mom's house, so I plan on spending the next 2 days nursing and knitting. The sweater he is wearing in the picture is one I knit on a whim about 3 weeks ago out of some WoolEase I had lying around.

New project alert!

So, I was sitting on the couch last night at 1 am, feeling sorry for myself because I am fat and miserable and can't seem to go into labor. And what should I find but a brand new yummy project to think about! I downloaded Eunny Jang's Argyle vest pattern, then ordered some Merino Wool from Knitpicks in the petal and cinnamon colorways. YUMMY! This will be my first project ever with steeks, which is where you knit and then *gasp!* cut your knitting to make armholes. I'm scared!! The pattern is 16 pages long and will be my most challenging knitting project to date. Just what you need with 3 children and a newborn, right? So now my goal is to finish the Diamonique sweater before my yarn comes. It's supposed to be here in 5-10 days. I should have had this baby by then, right? RIGHT?

Here is a sushi onesie that I embroidered using a pattern from Sublime Stitches

Stupid Contractions!

All day long, I have been having contractions about 5 minutes apart. Have they been getting any stronger? NO Have they been getting closer together? NO! SO ANNOYING!
Anyway, I thought you might like to see my kiddos decorating valetines day cookies. I still have red icing spots on the carpet! But they had fun.

I have been making a lot of progress on the Diamonique sweater. I'm coming up on the arm hole shaping for the back. The waist shaping has been a bit tricky to keep the pattern going with the increases and decreases, but I have persevered!

Still working on the blog, hopefully I will get my links section done tonight.

My new blog

So I decided to start a new blog. I am going to try and balance talking about my kids too much, and talking about my crafts too much. I am currently 11 days away from my due date with baby number 4. I am SO ready to have this baby. Also, this big belly is really getting in the way of my knitting. I have to hold my arms way out from my body, and I cant tuck my needle into my hip cause its under the belly. So things go alot slower. Right now I am working on a tank top designed by Saunshine called Diamonique. I am doing it in pink Patons Grace, and because of my deep hatred of gauging, I am using smaller needles, and knitting size L in the hopes that it will turn out a size medium. So far, it is going pretty well, and seems like it will fit me when all of the baby fat is gone. I guess it will be my weight loss inspiration.
