Its a ....

BOY!!!!!!!

Yep, we're having another boy! This will be boy number 4. We were kind of hoping for another girl so Sweet Pea would have a sister, but as soon as we saw him on the ultrasound he shoved his butt in the air and showed off his goods. Later in the day The Plumber patted my arm and said, " Oh, well. Maybe next time!"

And then I fainted.

Little Monster Bear

I am usually a "big project" knitter. I turn my nose up at little things like hats and scarves, and go for the big, complicated stuff. But lately it seems like all I want to do is whip up quick little instant gratification projects. I made an impulse purchase of the book 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders, and have been pulling yarn out of the stash left and right!
This is the Little Monster Bear by Wendy Gross from page 155.

After felting:

I broke into a skein of Patons Merino, and barely used 1/4 of it. Knitting time was only about 2 hrs total, so it's a great gift project. And yarn plus the little eyes cost 1.50 total! All of my kiddos want one now, but I think this one will be a baby gift for someone I know.

I have also dipped into my stash for some Rowan Denim for Solo from Rowan Babies. I only have one more side seam to sew, and then it's done. This is the first time I have used Denim, and having to knit 20% more length that disappears into nothingness was kind of annoying. But then I washed it. And it is so beautiful and soft and yummy that I just want to keep knitting with it.
Have you ever seen how a nicotine addicts fingers are stained yellow?

Mine are stained blue. What does that make me?

Christmas Shopping With Kids

Me: "We are going into this store, and I will be as quick as I can, but you guys can't touch ANYTHING. They have very breakable stuff in here. Ok?"

*We walk into the store*

J: "Can we touch that?"

Me: "NO."

J: "What about that?"

Me: "NO."

J: "We can't touch ANYTHING?"

Me: "NO."

J: "Not even OURSELVES?"

Me: (Looking at potential Christmas presents and not really paying attention) "NO."

J: "W, MOM SAID WE CAN'T EVEN TOUCH OURSELVES! NO TOUCHING YOURSELF! MOM SAID NOT TO TOUCH YOURSELF!"

W: "MOM, J IS TOUCHING HIMSELF!"

J: "WELL YOU WERE TOUCHING YOURSELF, TOO!"

We left pretty quickly after that.

Ribbed Striped Noro Scarf

Ever since I saw BrooklynTweed's Noro Ribbed Striped Scarf, I have been itching to make one. But as it goes, other projects stepped in front of it and it slowly sank down the "must knit now" list. I've recently seen a few of them popping up on other blogs, and the "itch" got pretty urgent.
I reduced the amount of stitches down to 29, with the first and last stitches slipped every other row.

Knit with 2 different colorways of Kureyon, this isn't the softest scarf I have knit, but it has a rustic feel and look that I love. Other than ripping out a few yards when a certain color (waaay to much brown) dragged on a little too long, I just let the colors match up and play however they came off of the skein.

I do have to admit, I really dig the pink and green sections.

I was going to model it in a classic knitblog "picture of myself in a bathroom mirror" shot, but when I took the first picture I realized that I had no makeup on and my hair was in definite need of a shower and blow dry. So because it's 1am, this is the best I've got.
